Privacy policy

Last updated 19 September 2026. How we handle personal information collected through this website.

Who we are

Synchrotech is a trading name of Synchro Technologies (Pty) Ltd, registration 2020/432382/07, based in Cape Town, South Africa. This policy covers the personal information we collect when you visit this website, use the contact form or message us on WhatsApp.

What we collect

We collect the minimum needed to reply to you and to keep this website working securely.

Information you give us

  • Your name, work email, company and role, when you complete the contact form
  • The details you share about your process, timeline and number of sites or users
  • Anything you send us directly by WhatsApp, phone or email

Information collected automatically

  • Standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used only to keep the site secure and working
  • Aggregated page view counts from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, stores no IP address and does not identify you
  • Measurement data from Google Analytics: the pages you open, how far down them you read, which buttons you press, and whether you start and send the contact form
  • Your approximate city, your browser and your device type, worked out from your IP address. Google Analytics does not store the IP address itself
  • Whether you arrived from a search, a link on another site, or by typing the address

Cookies

This site sets two cookies, both from Google Analytics, and nothing else.

  • _ga and _ga_2VP0SFWNLC, which hold a random number so we can tell a returning visit from a new one. They expire after 13 months
  • No advertising cookies. We have switched off the Google Analytics settings that build advertising profiles or pass your visit to Google's advertising products
  • You can block or delete these in your browser settings, or switch analytics off for this browser below. Nothing on the site stops working either way

Why we collect it

Each piece of information is collected for a specific purpose, with a legal basis under POPIA.

Information Purpose Legal basis
Contact form details To respond to your enquiry and arrange a process review Consent, and our legitimate interest in replying
WhatsApp, phone and email messages To respond to your enquiry Consent
Server logs Security, and keeping the site running Legitimate interest
Website analytics To see which pages are read, where visitors arrive from and where they give up Legitimate interest

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. Three suppliers handle parts of it on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purpose we give them.

  • Cloudflare, which serves this website and counts page views
  • Google, which runs Google Analytics. That data is processed on servers outside South Africa, mostly in the United States, under Google's data processing terms, which bind Google to a standard of protection substantially similar to the one POPIA requires of us
  • Our email provider, which carries an enquiry from the contact form to our inbox

Google Analytics never receives anything you type. Your name, work email, company, role, timeline and the description of your process go to our inbox and nowhere else. What Google Analytics is told about the contact form is that one was started, how many fields were filled, and whether it sent.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only as long as needed to respond, and for the life of the relationship if a project goes ahead. Where no project follows, we delete contact form details within 12 months. Server logs are kept briefly for security and then discarded.

Your rights

Under POPIA, you can:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask for a copy
  • Ask us to correct or delete it
  • Withdraw your consent at any time
  • Object to our use of website analytics. Use the switch above, or email us and we will confirm it in writing
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you believe we have not met our obligations under POPIA
